Female Housing Person of the Year 2016

Dr Chii Akporji is a former Seniior Adviser to Former Minister of Finance, Dr Okonjo Iweala. She coordinated the establishment of Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company Plc (NMRC). She is the present Executive Director of NMRC.

Dr. Chika Akporji is an accomplished development finance professional with a strong track record of managing complex national programmes to significant development impact. Her most recent success is coordinating the operationalization of the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC), set up to grow the primary and secondary mortgage markets in Nigeria and unlock the multiplier effects of increased home ownership on the Nigerian economy.

Prior to her current position at the NMRC she had served as Senior Advisor to the former Nigerian Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, and former World Bank Group Managing Director, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Before her return to Nigeria Dr. Akporji had had a successful 13 year career at the World Bank headquarters in Washington DC, where she worked on city development strategies (CDS) and slum upgrading (SU) programmes of several cities under the Cities Alliance programme; on several education and health sector reform programmes including the Global Partnership for Education and national responses to the HIV/AIDS pandemic and Polio Eradication.

Real Estate Person of the Year 2016

Rev. Ugochukwu Chime is a Fellow of Nigeria Institute of Surveyors, the President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and President of the Real Estate Developer’s Association of Nigeria (NIGERIA) is the principal agency of the organized private sector recognized by government and approved by the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) – the apex mortgage lender in Nigeria – to facilitate the delivery of affordable mass housing for Nigerians.

Housing Friendly Governor of the Year

He is the Executive Governor of Kano State. He has developed many housing projects for Civil Servants in Kano State. He obtained his first master’s degree in applied educational psychology from Bayero University Kano, located in Kano, Kano State, in 1979 and later returned to Ahmadu Bello University from 1984 to 1985 for a Master of Public Administration degree. Ganduje also went to the University of Ibadan, located in Ibadan, Oyo State, for a Doctor of Public Administration degree between 1989 and 1993.

Ganduje was a Deputy Governor of Kano State Governor Kwankwaso between 1999 and 2003, under the flag of the PDP. They lost re-election to Malam Ibrahim Shekarau. They were re-elected on 27 April 2011 and sworn in on 29 May 2011 for a second term in office.

Amongst his affordable housing programme is the 2,000 housing units projects and the Integrated Skills Acquisition Center  in Kano.
